Sometimes simplicity its best.

This is one of those cards that are made with a lot meaningful sentiment behind it. I used old stickers I had to create a pattern on the background and to create a sentiment. But the main point is the die cut feather, which is one of two part of this Tribal die set from Craft Asylum for Sizzix - 660501 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 2PK - Lattice Feathers.

It is good to keep things simple to make sure that the sentiment stands out.

A Little Home decor

Hello ...

It is lovely with the summer months to add a bit of brightness to our homes.  The Home Sweet Home collection is perfect for this with its vibrant colours.

Here I am sharing a simple picture made with a frame that can be picked up in a bargain store.

Materials:

Instructions:
1.  Cover the base of the frame with the heart patterned paper.
2.  Trim one trick banner and one thin banner from co-ordinating paper and adhere to the centre of the frame.
3.  Die cut the butterfly and piece together. Round the wings so that it sits off the page.
4.  Adhere a button to the centre of the butterfly and add to the centre of the peanut.
5.  Take the 'family' sentiment and adhere below the butterfly.

The beauty of making your own home decor is the way it can be changed as often as you like.  This is also great for a gift for family and friends.

I would love to see any home decor projects you are working on.

Until next time ...

Home Sweet Home Card

Hello …

Today I am sharing a card with you perfect for someone celebrating a new home. The new Sizzix Thinlits Craft Asylum Home Sweet Home Dies are perfect for this project. The houses are a perfect size to fit onto any card.

To create the card I have covered the card blank with blue check paper from the 6 x 6” Home Sweet Home Paper Pad.  I have used a circle die to cut the green card to form the look of a grassy bank.  The houses have been die cut from co-ordinating  papers from the 6 x 6” Home Sweet Home Paper Pad and adhered on top of the green semi circle. The little heart and the sentiment have been taken from the 12 x 12” Home sweet Home Paper Pad and finally the card has been embellished with a brad and ribbon from the Home Sweet home Embellishment set.

This creates a lovely, bright and happy card which will brighten anyones home!  For a keepsake gift this could also be made into a framed picture as a welcome into the home.

Have a lovely weekend.

A gap layout!

Today I am sharing a simple layout but using one technique that I love, Gap. You create a gap and then you join the pieces using die cuts.

I only used white card, black, yellow, pink paper and one single die:
660502 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 2PK - Tribal Borders

I trimmed the white card to the required size, for this case a 6 x 8 layout, my current favourite.
Then I die cut three borders using black paper. I trim the bottom in a straight line and attach the die cut border, then attach the bottom bit. Trim the excess of the bottom, measuring 8" from the top.
Place the photo and then other die cut borders to check on composition.

Once happy, make a mark in the closer to the center to each side. Trim the white paper and attach the die to the bottom and then the top part. Make sure the white card edges line up top to bottom.

Then, I trimmed the top and attach the third border.
To add more detail I added two borders on the right side. I first attached a black card and the over it layer two die cut borders.
I die cut them again out of pink and yellow paper and fill the inside bits.

Finally I wrote on the front (usually I write it on the back) but I thought such it is a s simple layout this would work. I don't like my ugly handwriting, but you know, it is important part of the scrapbooking process!

Sweet As A Candy Elephant!

Hello ...

Have you seen the new collection of Tribal Adventure Dies from Craft Asylum?  They are great for all occasions and can be adapted for so many uses.

Today I am sharing a cute elephant card made using the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Elephant Duo and the Craft Asylum Candy 6 x 6" Paper Pad.

I have left it sentiment free apart from the word 'cute' on the elephant as I think this could be used for many occasions.  This was aimed at a new baby card but I think it could suit older children and adults too.

The base of the card has been made up using strips from the Candy 6 x 6" Paper Pad.  I have then used the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Decorative Trim #1 as a base for the elephant to stand on.

The Candy collection works so well with white space on a card or scrapbook page.  It really brings out the colours.

Have a lovely week.

A Candy Layout

Hello,

Today I am sharing a new kind of project for me.... A layout.  I love scrapbooking and all the ideas behind it but I never seem to find the time so this year I have decided to get back into it and start creating layouts instead of leaving all of those photographs sitting on the computer.

The layout I am sharing today features the Candy collection which has such beautiful colours and compliments black & white and sepia so well.

Here I have mixed a selection of the 12 x 12" Candy Paper Pad and the 6 x 6" Candy Paper Pad.  As you can see the word 'enjoy' is die cut in white, which I think is very elegant and subtle but can still be seen on the layout.  I have used the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Decorative Trim #2 across the base of the photograph.  This has been adhered using 3D foam pads give the page some dimension.  The 'smile' circular element is cut using the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Decorative Bubbles. The sentiment at the top is the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Candy Clouds layered onto the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Layering Frames.

I have become very fond of white space on my project recently and love the way the white helps the colours from the Candy collection stand out.

I'm really looking forward to creating more layouts now, I'm sure I will be back with some more to share soon!

Have a great weekend.

A tribal floral card

Have you seen the gorgeous Craft Asylum Tribal collection of dies for Sizzix?
If not, you are missing out. They are gorgeous!

As a lover of flowers, of course I went to the florals first to create a fresh and stylish card.

As for the other items, I selected a few plain coloured card I had left over and the message is from the Craft Asylum Candy Stamps Set.

I started by die cutting a few of the flowers in the different colours as well as some leaves.

I stamped the message using black ink (VersaFine is my favourite for such small detailed stamps) and then trim it down.

Once I was happy with their position on the card, i carefully glue them one by one.
As some overlapped the edge, I turn the card over a proceed to trim off the excess.

I realized it needed something else, so I die cut the larger flower a second time using black paper and use the inner bits to fill it in.

Then I die cut one of the flowers from the Intricate Native Florals and the Intricate Tribal Floral.

I hope you like it!
